Time to harvest persimmons

5 Jun

Time to harvest & soak the persimmons! This is something I can do with my left hand. My friend, Bettes, has encouraged me to paint warp skeins while I go thru my shoulder rehab. Wheels are turning!

My persimmon tree is covered with tiny fruit, but I love the ripe persimmons too much to sacrifice any to the dyepot. However, the tree is self-thinning, and dropping lots of tiny fruit, so maybe. My tree is a Fuyu, whose fruit you can eat while they’re still firm as apples, not the ones that are bitter and astringent until they get mushy. I wonder if they work.

I will be anxiously waiting to see what you do with warp skeins. Hope your shoulder comes along nicely.
